5 Family Fall Festivities That Are FREE.

By: Sara Johnston of Daughter and Snow.

All right you guys, summer is almost over. It’s really hard to think the next season is winter but lets not go there yet we have a lot of things to do this fall and it starts with my top 5 picks for events happening in and around the Collingwood area.

Did I mention these are free?!

So mark your calendar and see you out there.

6th Annual Pooch Pool Party

Saturday Sept 2 2017
Blue Dolphin Pool
57 Richmond Street, Meaford

We love our babies but we can’t leave out our fur babies. Meaford’s 6th Annual Pooch Pool Party is taking place at the Mearford Blue Dolphin Pool. Before they close down the pool for the season, dogs big or small are invited to splash around and show off their tricks. They had me at pooch pool party.

Summer Sundown

Saturday, September 2, 2017 - Monday, September 4, 2017
Blue Mountain Village

The last weekend of summer should be as fun as the firstand Blue Mountain Village isn’t holding back on their Summer Sundown days. There are family friendly activities happening all weekend long. We’ll be front row centre watching the fireworks Friday night. I think this will be our new goodbye to summer tradition.

Guitar Trail

Saturday, September 9, 2017
Blue Mountain Village

My family and I checked this event out for the first time last year and unfortunately it rained. It didn’t put a damper on things at all. Instead of climbing the mountain, folks went from business to business to listen to the music. It was lovely and a great introduction to the folks who play frequently in this area. Oh and I almost forgot to mention, Canadian icon Kim Mitchell will be playing and who doesn’t love those patio lanterns?

Beaver Valley Fall Fair

Friday, September 8 2017 - Saturday, September 8 2017
Beaver Valley Community Centre
58 Alfred St W, Thornbury, ON

There’s plenty of fairs happening all over the Georgian Triangle but this one caught my eye for 2 reasons. There’s a farmer’s olympics taking place along with a tractor pull. There’s something about small town fairs that I absolutely love. Get out and support your local farmers.

Scarecrow Invasion

Friday, September 29 , 2017
Downtown - Meaford

You know what goes hand in hand with the local farms? Scarecrows.
Meaford proudly showcases these crop staples with a scarecrow parade followed by a family festival. If you love all things fall you’ll love attending this event. You just will.
